Story
Dewi survived against the odds after a severe brain injury at birth. As a result of the injury, Dewi is non-verbal, has limited mobility, has drug resistant epilepsy, cerebral palsy and is cortically vision impaired .
Dewi is now 18 months old and should be toddling around the place. He has mild hip dysplacia due to the lack of weight bearing in his legs. He is due to get a standing frame which will help but the ideal would be to get him into a movement walking pattern to help develop his hips and to allow Dewi the feeling of walking. At the very least, this will help Dewi avoid major hip and spine surgery which is an almost certainty without preventative measures. An innowalk would allow Dewi to experience the movement of walking, however it is not provided on the NHS (nor is any equivalent type of device). Unfortunately the cost of the device new is £20,000 although there may be options to purchase a second hand unit.
Please consider helping Just4Children and SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd to give him the best start in life and get him walking. Dewi needs constant physiotherapy sessions and other therapies to help him to thrive. Surplus funds can be used to help with these also.
SRK is bringing together a corporate running team to enter the Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon https://www.forestofdean-halfmarathon.co.uk/spring_trails/on on Sunday 27 September 2026.
