Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Thousands of people take part in Ride+Stride every year to raise funds to support their local churches and county historic churches trusts. Participants seek sponsorship through visiting Gloucestershire churches by walking, cycling, on horse back, on public transport or by car. Or some arrange coffee mornings or lunches. This year, members of St Edward's, Stow-on-the-Wold, will again be taking part.

Peter Dixon will again visit ten ancient Cotswold churches in a 20-mile walk, having survived the endeavour in previous years. Maintaining an ancient church is not easy, and St Edward's is no exception. The site has been a place of worship for over 1,000 years and parts of the building date from the 12th century. The money raised goes to Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust, but GHCT returns half of the funds to St Edward's.

Although the 'official' Ride & Stride day is Saturday13th September, that is the final day of the five-day Music at Stow Festival; it will be a busy week. So Peter will do his walk on Monday 8th September, before the Festival gets going.
