Story
I’m running my first half marathon (eek!), and I’m also raising money for a local charity.
Hackney Children and Baby Bank supports families in and around Hackney by providing essential baby equipment such as buggies, cots and highchairs, alongside clothing, toys and toiletries. This work is made possible through donated items and financial contributions.
43% of children in Hackney live in poverty, and many of the families supported are single parents. Some have fled domestic violence or trafficking, while others are navigating unemployment or mental health challenges. Last year, almost 30% of the families supported had no recourse to public funds, placing them among the most financially vulnerable.
What began as a small community pop‑up during the pandemic has since grown into a registered charity, with its own premises, two part‑time staff and a committed group of volunteers. In 2025, they provided around 2,500 clothing and toy packs, along with buggies, cots and other essential baby equipment, working closely with local agencies to reach families who need support.
Thank you for supporting my first half marathon and helping this local charity continue its work.
Please donate if you can.
