I'm taking part in the Great Northern Mud Run to raise funds for IDAS!

Total Warrior: Great Northern Mud Run · 22 June 2024 to 23 June 2024 ·
I'm taking on the ultimate challenge by joining Team IDAS in Total Warrior's Great Northern Mud Run 2024, because I want to make sure that anyone subjected to domestic abuse or sexual violence can access support.
I work for IDAS and my role is of an ISVA (Independant Sexual Violence Advisor). I support sexual violence victims whilst their case is going through the criminal justice system, and often when their case is not.
Whilst the criminal justice process is ongoing, I will have sessions with my clients where we discuss issues such as trauma responses, boundaries, anxiety, self-esteem, and confidence.
I know very much how important any funding is to us, and it can help with things like self-soothe kits (which include things like journals, stress balls, fidget toys and colouring books). We can also get resources such as games and toys, which helps us engage with our younger clients.
People who experience sexual violence and domestic abuse have not only experienced something extremely traumatic, but they will often then live in a high state of anxiety whilst there is a pending investigation or trial. All of these tools I've mentioned can be very beneficial to them in their recovery.
These are just a few of the many things that we can do with funding, and it enables us to help our clients rebuild their lives free from violence and abuse.
IDAS is the largest specialist charity in Yorkshire, supporting women, men and children who have been subjected to domestic abuse and sexual violence in York, North Yorkshire, Barnsley, and Sheffield. Their services include a free, confidential helpline, one-to-one and group outreach work, and refuge accommodation.
During 2023 IDAS received 18,000 referrals, answered 30,000 helpline calls, supported more than 10,000 people in their local community, and accommodated 250 families in their emergency refuge accommodation.
IDAS need our support so that they can reach more people whose lives have been devastated by violence and abuse. Please give as much as you can. Thank you.
