Overnight sleep out · 8 March 2024

We're excited to launch our Big Sleep Out event with the Posh Foundation which will take place on Friday 8th March 2024. This event will give participants an insight into what people who are homeless and sleeping rough experience every night.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me, will be fully aware of how much I hate the cold, and love my sleep!

So, braving a night on “on the streets” with others to raise money for Peterborough homeless shelter (The Light Project) is going to be a challenge .. but for an incredibly worthy cause.

This is my ‘why..?’

We have all felt the bitterness of a cold winter night or dreary wet morning .. nothing cosier than putting another log on the fire, getting under a fluffy blanket as you watch a good film on the Tv and wait for your dinner to finish cooking or a takeaway to to be delivered. So, imagine if you didn’t have a warm bed, a hot shower, dry clothes or even a hot drink to keep you going. If you had a cold slab of concrete with a bit of cardboard to lie on and the only clothes that you had were damp, frozen and items you had worn all day. Add in hammering rain or snow on you for 7 or 8 hours through the night, nowhere to go in the morning and a constant fear of abuse, violence, humiliation and despair ..

This is reality for thousands of people living on our streets. It’s 2024!!

While we are tucked up safely in our homes, men, women and young people are sleeping rough with no shelter and often no hope.

I will be spending one night , March 8, in Peterborough with other fundraisers to try and raise money and awareness for The Light Project - a fabulous place of warmth and safety for local people living on the streets.

Please spare anything you can to help, I really appreciate your support x
