On 27th November this year my son, Tom, would have celebrated his 40th birthday. As many of you know Tom, along with his best friend also called Tom, were both tragically killed in a car accident on 17 May 2002. They were aged just 17.

So, this year, to honour Tom’s birthday my sister Sue, and I will be taking on the Holte End Abseil at Villa Park on Saturday 9th November. Yes, I did ask her before I signed her up, but anyway, how could she refuse!

I’m not keen on heights to be honest but I said I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone to try and raise £400 for Tom’s 40th and this seems very fitting as Tom and I used to sit in the Holte End when we went to Villa together.

All funds raised will support Acorns Children's Hospice and the Aston Villa Foundation. I’m sure Tom would have approved and would definitely loved to have done something like this himself!
