Riding the Coast to Coast Sportive to help kids with cancer

Coast to Coast 2025 · 14 June 2025 ·
This year, I decided to do something a little different for my birthday. To celebrate the big 4 0 milestone, I’ve decided to take on an exciting and challenging adventure: cycling 150 miles (241km) from one side of the UK to the other in just one day as part of the Coast to Coast sportive on June 14.
The route is a varied one, featuring the demanding Cumbrian Climbs of Hardknot and Wrynose with their 33% slopes and sharp turns, some tough climbing in The Yorkshire Dales, flatter roads around The Vale of York, and a tough finish in the Yorkshire Moors as we head towards Whitby. The ride will not only challenge me, but help raise money for kids with cancer through the charity CFC (Cycling fighting Cancer).
Donations will be matched by Macquarie Group Foundation!
CFC are celebrating 20 years of helping kids with cancer in 2025 and we are also aiming to reach the huge target of providing our 10,000th bike!
Every year around 2,400 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. CFC helps them regain their physical fitness and mental wellness by providing them with new bikes, adapted trikes, and vital support throughout their treatment and recovery.
Exercise and activity have been shown in numerous scientific studies to be the single most effective way of improving outcomes for people surviving cancer. We promote cycling as the best form of exercise for children as it is outdoor, low impact, sociable and fun!
Every penny of your fundraising will be used to get more children living with cancer to get pedalling on their road to recovery so we are hugely grateful for your support.
