Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Gary & Stephen’s JustGiving page.
We are planning to retrace the steps that the British troops took in 1982 during the Falkland Islands conflict.
We both have various reasons for wanting to raise money for Ashgate Hospice and for choosing such a remote place to challenge ourselves.
Firstly, Gary fought in the Falklands during the 1982 conflict, and I also have a connection with the Islands, as my father was there in 1981 working for the Falkland Islands Company which built the local school.
Jo is the moral support to us both!
The route will be a huge physical challenge to us all for various reasons, and we estimate that we will be walking approximately 70 miles in tough terrain from San Carlos Bay on the west of the island to Stanley on the east during the day and Wild Camping through the nights (not exactly Stephen’s forte)!
We will be carrying all of our own kit and provisions to last the duration of the trip which we estimate will take around 8 days.
We would really appreciate any donations to help raise money for this wonderful cause that is Ashgate Hospice, who have helped and cared for some of our family members and friends during the last few years x
Thank you in anticipation
