Our team of 20 colleagues and supporters are taking on the Barnsley 10K to raise funds for Base71, Barnsley newest independent charity supporting young people aged from 8 - 19 (25 with additional needs).

Story

On Sunday 28 June, I’ll be running in the Barnsley 10K raising funds for Base71 Youth Zone – a place that is changing lives for Barnsley's young people.

Base71 is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility. It is a safe, inspiring space where young people can spend time with friends, try new activities, and build confidence with the support of trained youth workers.

For just 50p per visit, members can access over 20 activities a night – from sports and music to employability training, mentoring and wellbeing support. But the real impact goes far beyond activities. Base71 is a place where young people are heard, supported and encouraged to believe in themselves.

In a town where opportunities can sometimes feel limited, Base71 is helping to level the playing field – offering guidance, positive role models, and somewhere safe to go, improving their mental health and building brighter futures.

Every pound given will ensure the 7000+ members of Base71 have access to this vital support.
