Story
I am running to support the Downs Syndrome Association, as part of a fantastic challenge to run a relay from Lands End to John o Groats. (see Iris's post below).
My personal connection is the wonderful support the DSA have provided our nephew Mikey. We are all so proud of Mikey, who is a wonderful young man.
My dear sister Annie can tell us more:
The Down Syndrome Association have been and will continue to be, an invaluable source of information. Since Mikey was born we have been able to get help ranging from details of local parent groups, to information about speech and language therapy along with guidance about education through the years.
The Challenge!
My name is Iris, I am a 20 year old university student and I am organising a run from Land’s End to John o Groats to raise money for the Down’s Syndrome Association and Down’s Syndrome Scotland. The event is called RunAcross and will begin on International Down’s Syndrome Day (21st March 2024) and should last 14 days.
My little sister, Nancy, has inspired me to organise this charity event in aid of two wonderful charities. Viewing the world through Nancy’s eyes is one of the most beautiful parts of my life, she has taught me patience, kindness and unconditional love. She is my biggest blessing. The aim of RunAcross is to spark a new conversation and show the world the capabilities of people with Down’s Syndrome.
Our team brings together a variety of different people from different backgrounds to raise money for these two fabulous charities- The Downs Syndrome Association and Downs Syndrome Scotland. All the money raised will be split between the two charities.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
