Story
Many of you will know that my wife is registered blind and has a guide dog called Tudor.
Tudor has been by her side since before we even met and over the years I’ve seen first hand just how life changing guide dogs really are. He’s kept her safe, given her confidence and independence, and honestly, there are countless times he’s prevented serious accidents simply by doing the job he was trained to do.
Now Tudor is coming up to retirement and it’s made me realise even more how vital this service is for blind and visually impaired people across the UK.
What many people don’t realise is that Guide Dogs receives no government funding for services like this. Every guide dog, from puppy training and specialist staff to food, vet bills and ongoing support, is funded entirely through donations. Without public support, these life changing partnerships simply wouldn’t exist.
That’s why I’ve decided to take on the London Marathon to raise money for Guide Dogs.
I need to raise at least £3,000 and every single donation, no matter the size, will help support more people to gain the independence, safety and freedom that guide dogs provide every day.
If you can donate, share, or support in any way, it would genuinely mean a lot to both of us.
Thank you.
