I began volunteering at Mother Hubbard's Cupboard in 2015. I was in need of a connection with others and found it at an organization that is for so many people, an essential part of their well-being.
While known to most as a food pantry, "The Hub" also houses educational and advocacy programs, cooking classes, as well as opportunities for youth engagement. All programming is centered around providing not just nutrition, but also a sustained dignity and agency within its patrons.
Ultimately, Mother Hubbard's produces community for its visitors and supporters. Having stocked shelves and greeted guests for years, I saw first hand the warmth and camaraderie shared between clients as they made their weekly trip into The Hub. They may have stopped in for groceries, to attend a workshop, or to select seeds for gardening at home, but they left having connected with others.
In doing so, they built and strengthened a resiliency that benefits the entirety of Bloomington and Monroe County. I hope you will consider a donation to The Hub that enables this organization to continue to provide such an invaluable contribution to many.
