Taking On The 320km Yorkshire Beast Sportive to help kids with cancer

Steve Trice is raising money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer

The Yorkshire Beast Sportive · 28 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

The Yorkshire Beast is the most frightening ride in Yorkshire. 200 miles and over 5,000m of ascent - it's not for the faint hearted! Can you make it round before the beast catches you!?

Story

Cyclists Fighting Cancer are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2025 and aiming to deliver their 10,000th bike to a child living with cancer. They can only do this with our help, and for that very reason I'm committing to a fundraising bicycle ride on their behalf! To be specific, I'm going to take on the long route of the Yorkshire Beast at the end of June, which includes more than 5000m of ascent over the 327km (204 miles) long course. It will be a long and challenging day, but hopefully I'll manage to go the distance within the time limit of 16 hours.

Every year in the UK 2,400 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer. Exercise has been shown in numerous scientific studies to be the single most effective way of improving both physical and mental wellness for people surviving cancer. Cycling in particular is ideal for children as it is low impact, outdoors, sociable and fun, which also means that a challenging cycling event is a wonderfully appropriate way of raising funds.

If you can spare any amount of money for this fantastic charity, then it will be very gratefully received by me, by CFC, and by the young people that it helps.

Thanks for your kindness and generosity,

Steve
