Story
I am running the 2026 Saucony London 10K in aid of The National Brain Appeal, and I'm doing so in support of my friend Marc Bleach.
Marc's story
On September 22nd 2023, Marcs family's lives were turned upside down, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Within two weeks of that diagnosis Marc underwent a seven and a half hour operation to remove it. Luckily the amazing team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery were able to completely remove the tumour!
Since then Marc has had two further surgeries, one to repair a brain hernia and the other to fit a shunt to relieve pressure and help drain fluid correctly.
It has now been over two years since Marc has been able to exercise or run again, but he is finally in a position where he is able to attempt to complete another event.
Marc wants to raise some money to help give something back to the hospital that took such great care of him, and I want to help him with this endeavour!!
The National Brain Appeal aims to transform the lives of the millions of people affected by neurological and neuromuscular conditions. It helps to drive advancement by funding pioneering research, innovative treatments and world-class facilities, over and above what the NHS can provide.
Your donation will help The National Brain Appeal to improve the outcome and quality of life for the millions of people affected by a neurological condition.
