Story

The Stirling University Paramedic Society is hosting a 12-hour CPR marathon on campus to raise money for Trossachs Search and Rescue team. The money raised will be put towards public access defibrillators, a vital piece of equipment when faced with cardiac arrests.

According to the Resuscitation Council UK, many people who collapse due to a cardiac arrest can be saved if people nearby carry out the following:

• Recognise what has happened

• Call for an emergency service immediately

• Start and continue CPR – especially chest compressions

• Use a public access defibrillator to shock the heart back to its normal rhythm.

Carrying out CPR takes a tremendous amount of stamina, we want to highlight the effort that our frontline workers put in and continue to work the remainder of their 12 hour shift. Come along and join us by booking one of our 30 minute slots (sign up below) to get a feel for what CPR requires.

We will be providing training on the day surrounding effective CPR and the use of a community AED.
