Bikepacking Cycle Challenges

Connected Planet Foundation's mission to is to connect communities to nature. We believe what people love, they will protect, therefore our aim is to build connections to wildlife and nature, whilst teaching the importance of protecting our planet.

Story

Dear friends and Whanau,

This year, I’m taking on a series of bikepacking challenges with Adventure Conservation: cycling 320km from London to Paris, having already cycled 176km from London to Brighton and back, and preparing for a 240km journey from London to Amsterdam completely unsupported. No support team, no backup vehicle—just me, my bike, and the road ahead. I’ll be self-navigating this journey with a small group of like-minded cyclists, carrying everything I need and pushing through whatever weather and terrain comes my way.

Why am I doing this? Because… Hope starts here – with the Connected Planet Foundation. This incredible organization is dedicated to creating positive environmental impact through education, conservation, and community engagement. One of the most inspiring projects they support is Koru Camp — a place where people from local communities reconnect with nature, learn about sustainability, and become empowered to protect the planet.

As David Attenborough reminds us, “Nature once determined how we survive. Now we determine how Nature survives.”

Koru Camp is about more than just being in nature—it’s about inspiring long-lasting change. It provides immersive, hands-on experiences that help people of all ages build a deeper connection to the environment and understand their role in its future. It also supports the surrounding community by blending conservation and education with local empowerment.

Your support will help fund the camp’s vital initiatives: from youth education programs to community outreach. Every contribution makes a real impact. £50 can provide one child an opportunity to spend two nights at Koru Camp learning about and experiencing the natural world on their doorsteps—shaping attitudes and cultivating the future of conservation and protection of our natural habitats. These are the very habitats that keep our planet in balance, providing us with a functioning environment so we can continue to live healthy lives on it. Every bit matters.

As I ride each mile alone, carrying my own gear and facing the elements, I’ll be fueled by this mission—and by your support. It’s not just a physical journey but a personal one rooted in purpose. I believe deeply in the work of the Connected Planet Foundation and the transformative potential of Koru Camp.

If you can, please donate towards my target of £1,000. Help me turn this ride into something bigger than just the road beneath my wheels. Let’s create change together.

Hope starts here.

Thank you so much for your support.

With gratitude,

Sunny
