Story

Back in May 2024, following the loss of our son Zach we decided to raise money for the Horton Children's Ward in Banbury. A modest £5000 target was set with the goal of redecorating the famous room no.4 (Zach's room). We wanted to lift the spirits of all children that happen to stay in Zach's room, get rid of the tired old décor and add a splash of colour.

Well we absolutely smashed that target, £13,877 was raised (with giftaid) and the result was two rooms (4&8) completely revamped into bright, colourful and imaginative spaces where children can heal hopefully with a smile. You can read more about that here; https://www.justgiving.com/page/superzach

The feedback we've received since then has been fantastic, Zach's room which is now officially known as the Superhero Suite contains lots of heroic scenes, and inspirational messages. If you look closely you can spot our whole family, Super Zach himself, his little brother Speedy Leo, his sister Princess Rosie (on a unicorn of course).

One consultant from the ward wrote a heartfelt message, explaining the real difference this has made to transform the ward into a brighter, more welcoming and comforting environment for patients and families. He noted that the cheerful atmosphere helps ease anxieties, lifts spirits and brings smiles to patients, parents and staff alike even during difficult times.

Its feedback like this that has inspired us to do it again. Our son Zach had one great superpower, his smile and if we can do anything to honour his memory it is to leave a legacy of smiles.

Therefore we are setting another £5k fundraising target, but the good news is this time that money will go further. Because the artwork has already been bought and paid for, the Children's ward would simply like to replicate these rooms into the remaining 4 other undecorated rooms on the ward. This represents fantastic value for money, and means between the two fundraising efforts we will have transformed 6 rooms on the children's ward.

Now I know money is tight, we've only had one pay check after Christmas, but I ask you all can you help make this dream a reality? There is no donation too big or small, there is also no time limit to this although the ward would like to be in a position to get this done this summer.

Please donate what you can and help spread the word...lets do some good together and make a real difference :-)
