Susan Howe is raising money for Walk Wheel Cycle Trust

Cycling & Walking 318 miles of Various Cycle Network Routes from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Derby · 6 September 2026

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust is the charity making it possible for people to walk, wheel and cycle. Because it changes everything. Our health. Our wellbeing. Our world. We call it people-powered movement. Join us on our journey.

Story

As part of my heart failure rehabilitation, I got back on my bike discovering the National Cycle Network routes around Derbyshire. I value these quiet, safe and well sign routes and decided to challenge myself to ride John O’Groats to Land’s End raising funds for Cardiomyopathy UK and the Walk Wheel and Cycle Trust who managed the National Cycle Network.

I have completed the Scotland section of my journey and in September I am aiming to cycle and walk from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Derby covering 318+ miles in 12 days fundraising for the Walk Wheel and Cycle Trust.

I am determined to complete this route without a single 'rest day' regardless of the fact I have heart failure, I will be closer to 69 years young than I care to admit and I am riding a little folding bike on manual gears!

I greatly appreciate your support and I know that your donations will be put to good use by the Walk Wheel and Cycle Trust providing access to safe and well-maintained routes for everyone who walks, wheels or cycles.

Thank you so much for your time in reading my story. Do re-visit my page for daily updates on my challenge from 6/9/26.

My fundraising page for Cardiomyopathy UK is available for donations till October 2026.
