Story

Jude Cunnane was an extraordinary young man, who lived life fully and joyfully despite the challenges he faced daily, consequence of complex epilepsy. He was full of bravery, kindness, joy and laughter, and is loved and missed by so many. Suddenly and sadly, Jude died from complications of his complex epilepsy in October 2021 at the age of 7.

As a family, we have known and sadly lost others whose lives have been cruelly affected by epilepsy. Nick's uncle, his mum's twin brother (Giles White) was severely affected by epilepsy from the age of 8. He lived with significant disability and sadly died in 2005.

Over the course of a generation between 2 young men, there have been many positive developments and much progress in helping those affected by epilepsy. Through charities such as Young Epilepsy, we can move towards a future of more understanding and vital support for young people and families affected, a deserving legacy for Jude and Giles.

It is 20 years since my last marathon, and I am excited and nervous to get stuck in to the training now 2025 is here. Thank you for supporting me and the amazing work done by Young Epilepsy in memory of Jude and Giles. Thinking of the challenges these 2 boys faced, and the people who loved them so dearly.
