Story
I joke about being hangry or having a food mood, but the reality is I'm never far away from grabbing something to eat and I am guilty of taking that for granted.
I recently learnt that 14.1 million people in the UK are struggling to afford enough to eat every year. What makes that more shocking, is that 10 billion meals are wasted each year because of surplus food being produced across the country.
FareShare Sussex & Surrey, a brilliant local charity that rescues surplus food and gets it straight to charities and community groups supporting hungry people across the region instead of ending up in landfill.
I’m taking part in The Big Surplus Cycle: Ride the Link, Feed the Community.
I want to raise a minimum of £300 - this could provide over 12,000 meals across Sussex and Surrey. Feeding elderly residents in deprived areas, kids missing out on free school meals during school holidays, young people experiencing homelessness - the list goes on.
If you can sponsor me and help this amazing charity, your money will go to a really worthwhile and local cause 💚
