Story
In September 2026 I’ll be attempting the Hurly Burly Swim in Barmouth… a 10km (6-mile) open water challenge through tidal sea currents. Yes, it sounded like a brilliant idea at the time. Now? I’m somewhere between excited, slightly terrified, and regularly asking myself, “what have I signed up for?”
I’m taking on this salty adventure to raise funds for Level Water, an amazing charity that provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities. These lessons give young people confidence, independence and essential life skills in the water - and it feels incredibly special to support something that makes such a real difference.
I’ve tackled plenty of running challenges over the years, but swapping trainers for a wetsuit has been a whole new learning curve. Training involves early alarms, cold water swims, and negotiating with myself to get back in when every instinct says “absolutely not.”
If you’re able to donate, thank you - truly, every contribution (no matter the size) helps support these life-changing lessons. And if donating isn’t possible right now, a share, a cheer, or a bit of moral support will definitely help me keep swimming!
Wish me luck… I think I might need it 🌊
