Swim Serpentine 2024 · 14 September 2024 ·

Inspired by our beautiful Ivy, we are asking you to join our fundraising efforts to support The Lily Foundation. You can donate directly or take on your own challenge. Together we will beat Mito.

Story

in September Mark (Ivy’s Dad, who hates swimming) is attempting to SWIM 2 MILES in the Serpentine… inspired by Ivy and her brave MITO fight towards her 18th Birthday at the end of the year.

We were told Ivy wouldn’t make her 1st Birthday!

Ivy was born at the same time as Lily (the inspiration behind The Lily Foundation) in 2006 and both these special girls were born with Mitochondrial Disease. Sadly Lily lost her fight at just eight months old.

Ivy bravely soldiers on, but she still is not able to sit up on her own, walk, talk or swallow food safely! Our family live one day at a time and do all we can to make her life as full as possible.

Every day in the UK a child is born with Mitochondrial disease, a cruel, incurable and life limiting condition. It is probably the most common disease you have previously never heard of and 17 years ago there was no information or any network supporting families like ours and Lilys.

The Lily Foundation was born to change this and to strive to one day find a cure through funding research, raising awareness and supporting families.

Please donate if you can and help me help Team Ivy and The Lily foundation give hope to so many.

Thank you
