Story
It started with a simple question from one of our cadets to her dad. Can I attempt the southern upland way this year? As with all these ideas , it has gained a momentum all of it's own. The wee wander is now open for willing friends, unit volunteers and parents to join in, either for a long wander or a short wander, all are welcome.
In their own words they decided to help the cadets because:
'Dumfries Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets (T S Douglas), giving todays youth the chance to explore their boundaries, challenge themselves and gain valuable life skills and confidence ready for todays complex world.
In todays ever changing world the cadets at T S Douglas are encouraged to maximize their potential, become self-reliant, gain important skills such as teamwork, integrity, self-discipline and most importantly enjoy themselves whilst they grow into confident young people.
All this is achieved through various activities, be it afloat or on land they are given opportunities to learn, expand and develop whilst in a safe environment, with the help and support of volunteers.'
So lets get behind them and see what they can achieve.
