Sophie, Phoebe and a Chloe are taking part in the Emmie’s Books reading challenge!

During June they will aim to read 20 minutes per day (Phoebe & Chloe) and 33 minutes per day (Sophie).

Emmie’s books is a wonderful charity which provides books to poorly children in hospital.

When Sophie was diagnosed in 2021, we spent countless days and nights in hospital….her first 6 weeks were in the same hospital room. As an adult it’s hard to understand the levels of boredom and frustration felt at being cooped up in the same place, often with strict isolation protocols and limitations on visitors (Sophie couldn’t even see her own sisters)…now imagine you’re a child?

Story time is something familiar to child, something that gives them comfort and a sense of normality. It creates bonding time and provides escapism through the story telling and their imagination. From our own experience, I cannot stress enough how important the work Emmie’s Books does is to children and their families too…it’s so much more than a book.
