Join us this June as we celebrate one whole year of Emmie’s Books being a registered charity - with a Sponsored Read that helps us bring magic and comfort to children undergoing cancer treatment across the UK.

💙 Why We're Reading

Emmie’s Books was inspired by Emmie, who was diagnosed with cancer at just 14 weeks old.

During her long hospital stays, books became her lifeline. Whether it was a colourful picture book or a gentle bedtime story, those moments offered comfort, distraction, and joy - when we needed it most.

Today, Emmie is thriving, and our mission is simple: to gift brand-new books to children in hospital so they too can escape into stories and feel just a little more like themselves.

📖 How It Works

Throughout June, children and families will be taking part in our Sponsored Read by reading for either:

📚 10 minutes a day (300 minutes total)

📚 20 minutes a day (600 minutes total)

They’re collecting sponsorship from friends and family, and every penny raised will go directly to Emmie’s Books to help fund our hospital book donations.

💫 Where Your Money Goes

All funds raised will support our mission to gift handpicked, high-quality books to hospitals across the UK. We work directly with Play Teams and charities like Spread a Smile to ensure books reach the children who need them most - often during long and difficult stays in oncology, intensive care and high dependency wards.

£5 could gift a beautiful storybook to a child newly diagnosed with cancer

£25 could stock a bag with age-appropriate books

£100 could help us refresh a hospital’s entire ward library
