Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.

Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.

At Specsavers Taunton, we are jumping out of our testing chairs and into the mud this July to raise money for our charity, Guide Dogs. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to live a fulfilling life, regardless of their visual impairment.

That's why we're participating in the 5K Warrior Mud Run on July 20th, 2024. This exciting event brings together people from all walks of life who are passionate about making a difference. By joining forces with other like-minded individuals, we can create positive change and enhance the lives of those who have and are suffering from sight loss.

Our goal is to raise £2,500 for Guide Dogs. This amount will enable them to provide essential services such as guide dog training, mobility support, and emotional assistance to those in need. With your generous contribution, we can make a real impact on the lives of people who often feel isolated and forgotten.

After a very successful warrior mud run that our team completed in July, we have raised a total of £1031.84 including instore donations too! We would like to thank everyone for donating to an amazing charity and your kind words for the team, the race was definitely a challenge, but our team did amazing and we couldn't be prouder of them!

Due to the success of our first run, our team of optometrists, managers, optical assistants and dispensing opticians have decided to push their limits and take on a new run this November... It's an 11k evening/night time race set in Corfe Castle on 16th November! The challenge is set, the team is preparing and we are wishing them all the best!
