Dan & Ruby’s Run: London Marathon 2025 & RBC Race for Kids 2024 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
In 2018, our world was turned upside down by three words: Tetralogy of Fallot. For our unborn daughter, Ruby, it was more than a diagnosis—it was the start of a journey filled with challenges, bravery, and incredible compassion. Ruby, our little warrior, faced three open-heart surgeries at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) before she even turned one.
Each surgery showed Ruby’s incredible resilience and meant long stays at GOSH. The hospital wasn't just a place for treatment—it became our second home. GOSH made sure we were there for Ruby every step of the way, offering support that went beyond medical care. Their compassion touched our entire family.
Inspired by the amazing support we received, I ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2024. Every step was a tribute to Ruby's courage, the strength of families like ours, and the incredible care from GOSH. The experience was overwhelming, and the support we received was beyond anything we imagined.
With that spirit, our family is taking on new challenges together. Ruby will be running the RBC Race for Kids 2024, and I’ll be tackling the London Marathon 2025. These races are a tribute to Ruby's strength and the ongoing support from GOSH. Through these events, we hope to raise more awareness and funds for GOSH, shining a light on the hope and care they provide to families facing congenital heart defects.
Running through London will be a heartfelt tribute to GOSH, where Ruby’s heart grew strong and our family found resilience. It celebrates the critical surgeries and the warm, supportive environment that helped us through our toughest moments.
Every donation, big or small, helps GOSH—from providing a comforting cup of tea for parents to the advanced medical equipment for our little fighters. Your support makes a real difference.
Thank you for being part of our journey, for sharing our story, and for helping us give back to the hospital that gave us so much.
With gratitude,
Dan & Ruby
