Story
The Broad family are raising money to support refugees so they can thrive as they rebuild their lives!
I (Ishah) have volunteered as a family support team member for Belper Refugee Welcome, working in partnership with RESET and Citizens UK to resettle a Syrian family in Belper. Previously, I volunteered as an ESOL team member with Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity.
We are members of Woodlands Church in Derby who regularly support the amazing work of Upbeat Communities.
Upbeat’s activities provide a lifeline to those who have fled war in search of safety, and who need to be welcomed into community. One of the best resources a refugee can have to help them settle in their new home is a good social network. The friendships and connections that refugees build at Upbeat can help them to overcome the many challenges they face.

The strength, tenacity, resilience and humility we have seen in those seeking refuge in a new and unfamiliar country is astounding. They are worthy of our support, kindness and love.
This inflatable run (2.5K) will certainly be a challenge for us! But we think running for this cause as a whole family will be a wonderful learning opportunity for our children. Instilling the value of caring for the needs of others, not just our own.
We value every donation and your prayers as we embark on this challenge. Every penny and pound counts :)
Thank you so much for your kind support and generosity.
Much love,
Ishah, Paul, Evelyn and Toby Xx
