Story
Teacher, parent, adult educator, carer, volunteer library assistant, friend, grandparent, walker, gardener. She touched a lot of people and had such a significant impact on so many people.
My Mum was a really special person, and I was really lucky to have such a positive influence bringing me up. Sadly she was diagnosed Sporadic CJD in Nov 2024 but we were able to care for her at home meaning we spent as much time as possible together.
My sister and I plan to embark on the Great North(am) ride riding over 400km. We will visit Mums old haunts, our parents final resting place in the Peaks, our childhood town and the village Mum spent the last ten years of her life.
We aim to raise funds to support the use of an antibody drug developed for the treatment of patients with CJD. The first patient was treated at UCLH in October 2018 and if they hadn’t lost their funding, Mums story might have been different.
