Team fundraising in memory of Mum

Raising money for University College London Hospitals Charity UK
In memory of Mum

The Cure CJD campaign has been set up by a group of individuals, personally affected by the disease, to support the work of researchers & doctors at the MRC Prion Unit at UCL and NHS National Prion Clinic at UCLH. We are a fund within UCLH Charity.

Story

Last year we watched our Mum rapidly decline cognitively and then physically in the claws of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).

CJD is a rare neurological condition that attacks the brain control centre slowly taking away the ability to think, move and finally eat. There is currently no cure but every day scientists and doctors are getting closer to finding a treatment. Tim and I aim to raise funds to support the search for a cure to this horrific condition.

For 4 days, Tim and I are going to take a 2 wheeled commemorative trip through places important in Mum's life. We start in Bridlington where Mum visited her Grandparents and learned to swim in the sea, then on to Sheffield where she grew up and then took us to visit our Grandparents, through the Peaks to Sutton Coldfield and Streetly in the West Midlands where we lived as a family, and finally to Long Buckby where Mum lived her last meaningful years taking an active part in the wonderful village community there.

Tim and I will be cycling over 250 miles (390km) to support the Cure CJD campaign.

We appreciate anything you could donate for this worthy cause.
