We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

On 9th July 2023, Professor Mike Hanna will be leading the CNMD Team of 26 runners in running The Asics London 10k run, in central London.

It great for the team to be back doing this run after the pandemic gap. It will be the fourteenth year Prof Hanna and the CNMD team have run a London 10k event for the National Hospital Brain Appeal Charity.

This year we aim to raise £10,000 in aid of The National Brain Appeal to support training and research at The Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases. The Centre looks after over 5000 patients each year with a range of disabling muscle wasting diseases including peripheral neuropathies (e.g., Charcot Marie Tooth), muscular dystrophies, mitochondrial diseases, polymyositis, inclusion body myositis and muscle channelopathies.

Since we first set ourselves this annual challenge, we're delighted that our supporters have helped to raise over £140,000 for the Centre.

The impact of this has been incredible and has helped us to maintain our commitment to training the next generation of scientists, nurses, therapists, doctors and clinical research specialists.

It's no exaggeration to say, we really couldn't have done this without the help of our patients, their families and friends. This year, we hope to raise funds to continue these training programmes.

We do hope you will be able to support us: any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and will help make a very real difference.
