Story
On 12 July 2026, Professor Mike Hanna will lead a CNMD team of runners in the 2026 Saucony London 10K, taking place in central London. This marks the 17th year that Professor Hanna and the CNMD team have participated in a London 10K event in support of the National Hospital Brain Appeal charity.
This year we aim to raise £10,000 in aid of The National Brain Appeal to support training and research at The Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases. The Centre looks after over 5000 patients each year with a range of disabling muscle wasting diseases including peripheral neuropathies (e.g., Charcot Marie Tooth), muscular dystrophies, mitochondrial diseases, polymyositis, inclusion body myositis and muscle channelopathies.
Since we first set ourselves this annual challenge, we're delighted that our supporters have helped to raise over £140,000 for the Centre. The impact of this has been incredible and has helped us to maintain our commitment to training the next generation of scientists, nurses, therapists, doctors and clinical research specialists.
It's no exaggeration to say, we really couldn't have done this without the help of our patients, their families and friends. This year, we hope to raise funds to continue these training programmes.
We do hope you will be able to support us: any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and will help make a very real difference.
