Story
I am excited to share that I will be participating in the Dublin to Belfast Palestine Solidarity cycle, a remarkable two-day event taking place on the weekend of August 16th and 17th. This initiative, organized by the Lapwing and Sunbird Cycle Club, aims to raise vital funds for Gaza Sunbirds, who are tirelessly working to distribute aid in Gaza.
As of August 14th, at least 61,766 individuals, including 18,430 children, have been killed. Among them are at least 106 children died of starvation. Additionally, over 154,906 people have been injured. The situation in Gaza is one of genocide and ethnic cleansing as a total blockade from March 2nd to May 18th made it impossible for aid to reach those in need and as now when aid is allowed in civilians are targeted and killed while trying to reach aid.
The Gaza Sunbirds are a dedicated paracycling team based in the Gaza Strip, founded in 2018 with the inspiring dream of representing Palestine at the Paralympics. Since the war, many team members have remained in Gaza, focusing their efforts on providing essential aid to their communities. Two of their courageous athletes managed to evacuate and are now set to represent Palestine at the Paracycling World Championships this September in Belgium.
As I prepare for this challenge, the first time cycling such a long distance with limited training. I am motivated by the incredible work being done by those in Gaza and our universal commitment to support those who are suffering.
I kindly ask for your support as I embark on this journey. My goal is to raise £500 for Cycle for Palestine Ireland as part of my participation in this meaningful event. Your contributions will make a significant difference in helping provide much needed resources for those affected by hardship. Thank you for standing with me and supporting this important cause!
