Their Story – The Glitzy Grans

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Vanessa Class School of Dance fund raising shows, a truly special group is stepping into the spotlight… the Glitzy Grans.

For years, these grandmas have been the loudest cheerleaders in the room — watching proudly as their granddaughters twirl, leap, and light up the stage. They’ve calmed nerves, wiped happy tears, and felt their hearts burst with pride at every show. And now, inspired by the courage and joy of the children they love, they’ve decided it’s finally their turn to step onto the stage.

With a mix of nerves, excitement, and plenty of laughter, the Glitzy Grans are embracing something completely new. They’re pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, learning routines, sharing giggles at rehearsals, and discovering a new kind of confidence together. They’re dancing with full hearts — and that’s what truly matters.

They’re doing all of this for a cause incredibly close to them: raising money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital’s cancer care.

As grandmothers, the wellbeing of children means everything to them. Their hope is that this small act of bravery, joy, and unity can help support families who are facing some of the toughest battles imaginable.

Every step they take is filled with purpose, love, and gratitude — for their grandchildren, for the community around them, and for the chance to make a difference.
