We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

For Brandon — so no young person faces cancer alone

This year, The Holiday Shop Blackburn is celebrating 20 years in business. It should be a time filled only with happiness and celebration, but for our team it is also an opportunity to remember someone who should still be here.

We are fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust in loving memory of Brandon Langford, the much-loved brother of our team member, Toni.

Brandon Langford

22 May 2003 – 25 April 2022

When people look at Brandon’s photograph, we hope they see him as his family remembers him: smiling, warm, funny and full of life.

Brandon was a loving and caring son, brother and friend. He had a brilliant sense of humour, loved football and was a huge Liverpool supporter. He was the kind of person who could make those around him smile, and his family should have had many more years of laughter, football conversations and memories with him.

In 2020, Brandon and his family received news that no family should ever have to hear. He had been diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma.

He faced everything that followed with incredible courage, while his family remained beside him, holding on to hope that the treatment would work. Heartbreakingly, it was unsuccessful.

In September 2021, Brandon began a clinical trial at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. For a time, his condition remained stable, giving Brandon and his family precious time together and a reason to keep hoping.

Then, in November 2021, they were told that the trial treatment had stopped working.

Brandon was placed on end-of-life care and supported by Derian House. On 25 April 2022, just weeks before his nineteenth birthday, Brandon passed away peacefully with the people he loved most gathered around him.

No family should have to say goodbye to someone so young.

Throughout Brandon’s illness, Teenage Cancer Trust gave him and his family care, kindness and support during the most frightening and heartbreaking period of their lives. They helped Brandon feel understood as a young person living with cancer, while also supporting his family through moments of fear, uncertainty and unimaginable pain.

Their support could not change what was happening, but it helped Brandon and his family feel less alone.

That kindness has never been forgotten.

On 14 November 2026, we will bring together approximately 120 guests at Blackburn Rovers Football Club for our 20th Anniversary Charity Fundraising Evening. Through our auction, raffle and other fundraising activities, we hope to raise as much as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust in Brandon’s memory.

This fundraiser is our way of saying that Brandon mattered.

It is our way of keeping his name, his smile and his story alive.

It is also our way of helping Teenage Cancer Trust be there for another young person sitting in a hospital room, another brother or sister trying to stay strong, and another family facing news that will change their lives forever.

Every donation made through this page will go directly to Teenage Cancer Trust.

Please donate whatever you can. Every contribution will help provide specialist care and support to young people with cancer and the families standing beside them.

Most importantly, please take a moment to remember Brandon—not only for the illness he faced, but for the loving, funny and football-mad young man he was.

Brandon was deeply loved. He is deeply missed. And he will never be forgotten.
