Story

The Janice Jam is a rocking evening that will benefit breast cancer research and awareness with 100% of net ticket proceeds benefitting the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative (a program of the Entertainment Community Fund) at Haswell Green’s.

This event is the brainchild of Matt DeAngelis (Waitress), who lost his mother, Janice, last year to breast cancer. To honor her and the countless people affected by this disease, he, alongside the Rock and Roll Debauchery team, are culling an evening of Celebration, Remembrance and Awareness, that will have guests singing, dancing, and helping bring funding to this very special cause. This event will serve as the inaugural annual celebration of Janice, her love for theatre, as well as raising money for the millions of people who are affected by breast and other types of cancer.

Confirmed to appear during the concert are E.J. Cardona (FOX’s The X Factor), Omar Cardona (NBC’s “The Voice”), Matt DeAngelis (Waitress), Christine Dwyer (Wicked), Keri René Fuller (SIX The Musical), Caitlin Houlahan (Waitress), Eric Krop (Broadway: Godspell, FOX’s “I Can See Your Voice”), Michele Mais (Rock of Ages), Javier Muñoz (Hamilton), Samantha Pauly (SIX: The Musical), Talia Suskauer (Wicked), Ryan Vona (Parade), Nik Walker (Hamilton), TikTok vocal sensation T.3 [Jim Hogan (Kimberly Akimbo), Liam Fennecken (CHICAGO), Brendan Jacob Smith (The Simon & Garfunkel Story)], and virtual appearances by Shoshana Bean (Mr. Saturday Night), Gavin Creel (Into The Woods), Caissie Levy (Leopoldstadt), and Joshua Malina with the cast of Leopoldstadt.

Pre-show entertainment will be provided by magicians Matthew Holtzclaw (Speakeasy Magick), Prakash Puru (Speakeasy Magick), Rachel Wax (Speakeasy Magick), tap-extraordinaire Luke Hawkins (The Sting), and juggler Alex Nee (Almost Famous). The evening’s band includes Jonathan Ivie (musical director/keys), Caleb Michel (drums), Steve Millhouse (bass) and Andrew Zinsmeister (guitar).

The event is produced by DeAngelis, Bryan Campione, Angel May Reed, and Ember Productions (Amber Coates and Maxwell Haddad), with musical direction by Jonathan Ivie and Anita Shastri acting as stage manager.

“We stand to honor and celebrate those affected with this disease, both past and present,” shares DeAngelis. “This yearly event will serve as the celebration of a woman who was more than just an honorary part of the Broadway community, with continued education and non-profit support for future generations. We too can do our part in erradicating this disease, thus, preventing losses like mine and many others in this world.”

“Phyllis Newman founded the Women’s Health Initiative because of her own personal experience with cancer, to help others have a comforting, helpful resource when facing such difficult times. Matt and all those involved in The Janice Jam are now not only honoring Janice, but also continuing Phyllis’s legacy to help countless other women as they need support,” shared Joseph Benincasa, President, and CEO of the Entertainment Community Fund.

Doors will open at 6:00pm, with the concert beginning at 7:30pm. Specialty cocktails, a full bar and menu, and a silent auction will be available to all attendees throughout the evening.

The event will also feature a silent auction with items including: a signed poster and two (2) tickets to A Beautiful Noise, two (2) tickets to Hadestown, two (2) tickets to Rock and Roll Man, two (2) tickets to Sleep No More, two (2) tickets to SIX The Musical, two (2) tickets to Speakeasy Magick, two (2) tickets to Titanique, gift certificates to local restaurants including Haswell Green’s NYC, Glass House Tavern, Joe Allen Restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and more.
