This Christmas, I’m asking for people to consider donating funds for Helen Keller Intl, an incredible charity delivering one of the most effective health interventions in the world: vitamin A supplementation.

Just one capsule, given twice a year, can protect a child’s sight and even save their life — and it costs a little over $1 per dose. GiveWell estimates this programme reduces childhood mortality by 4%–12%, making it possibly the most effective charity in the world.

This fundraiser is dedicated to Michael Kilker, my late grandfather-in-law, who passed away this year. His family experienced famine and malnutrition first-hand in the 1930s, and supporting this cause feels like a good way to honour his memory.
