Our wonderful runners are taking on the 2025 Paris Marathon to fundraise for Alcohol Change UK.

Story

My dad struggled with alcohol addiction for years… decades, infact. He lost everything in his struggles; his business, marriage, friendships, relationships and after years of serious health problems he eventually lost his life on the 30th November 2024, ultimately due to alcoholism.

My relationship with my dad was fraught and complex, especially in the latter years, but being a father myself I never want my kids to go through the torture that alcohol addiction brings which is what has inspired this challenge for this amazing charity, so in April I’ll be running back to back marathons:

On Sunday 6th April I’ll take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon (13.1miles) and on the following Sunday, the 13th April, I’ll be running the full Paris Marathon (26.2miles).

Every day in the UK twenty people die because of alcohol. It can affect anyone, from any walk of life but alcohol harm is not inevitable. With your support, change can happen faster.

About Alcohol Change UK…

We want to build a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.

Our team of wonderful London Landmarks and Paris Marathon 2025 fundraisers are helping to make this a reality.

So, please spare a few quid to help those that are affected by alcoholism in the UK - it’s more people than you would think!
