Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
On Friday 27 June, I’ll be participating in the Big Walk in support of neurological disease research at the University of Sheffield. By donating to Sheffield’s research, you’ll help to fund vital new treatments that will bring hope to so many people.
One in six people, and one in four over the age of 80, will develop a significant neurological disorder in their lifetimes. Neurological diseases such as Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and stroke can have devastating effects. These diseases are notoriously difficult to treat, with current treatments masking symptoms rather than curing the root cause of these terrible illnesses.
It's the sixth year (I think) I've taken part in the Big Walk, and this year it's a 31 mile route through the Peak District. (For those who know the territory - around a good chunk of Ladybower, to Alport Castles, Bamford Edge, Stanage Edge, and back into town). I'm looking forward to the challenge, and the community spirit you get on the day - and if the good weather we've seen in previous years holds again, that'll be a bonus!
Your support could truly be a catalyst for transformative breakthroughs that could result in cures for these conditions in our lifetimes. Anything you're able to offer, large or small, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for making a gift to help me reach my fundraising goal!
