Tim Marshall and the amazing Aldwickbury School community's "Miles for Max" ultramarathon walk for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

Tim Marshall is raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

Tim and the Aldwickbury School community's ultramarathon walk "Miles for Max" from Haileybury school (Max's future school) to GOSH via Spurs FC · 23 May 2026

We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." - Helen Keller.

What started out as an idea to show support for Max and his family at this difficult time, and to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital, has snowballed into something beyond my wildest dreams! The above quote is very apt in this sense. I have been overwhelmed by the support shown by the Aldwickbury community, both past and present! It has truly shown that "together we really can do so much!"

Before I introduce my AMAZING team, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their donations! You really have made, and continue to do so - a huge difference! Thank you!

A few months ago, when the idea of Miles for Max was born, I never imagined that this event would grow to what is has become today! This would not be possible without the support of my school, Aldwickbury, which has been invaluable in so many ways; be it in helping me get the initiative off the ground, in its assurance of the event on the day, with some of the behind-the-scenes organisation, and supporting the participants with food and medical care etc. Thank you so much!

To our sponsors: KIA/ALAN DAY and BOL for their generous donations and to STEVENSONS for providing and sponsoring our amazing kit! Thank you for everything!!

To my support team of Paul Symes (Headmaster), Chris Schanschieff (Deputy Headmaster) and Sharon Saponaro aka Mrs S (Matron) who will support the walkers on the day, be it cycling alongside the participants or providing medical care! We simply couldn't do this without you! Thank you!

To the AMAZING team, who volunteered to join me on the walk! Please give them all your support!! They are: Tom, Sarah and George Brandt, Kian Middleton, Angus Timmins, Greta Shepherd, Lisa Symes, Carrie Preston, Alicia Sanchez-Blanco, Fiona Johnston, James and Alex Moffat, Amanda O'Toole, Rosie Marsh, Jamie Martyn, Karen West, Vivienne Edwards, Harrison Booth, Martin Aldridge, Matt Holbrook, Eddie Panting, Lucie Sidwell, Sarah Bruce-White, Lucy Thomson, Zarinne Dye, Tom Clark, Jane and Wayne du Plessis, James Gilyead, Reg and Gabe Ayers, Joe, Sam, Archie and Lara Wilks, Nicky Robinson and Meysum and Fatima Zaidi.

"Miles for Max" will see us set off from Haileybury School (Max's future school) early on Saturday 23rd May and walk our way to Great Ormond Street via Spurs FC. At Spurs we will go pitch side and have a group photo taken with the "Miles for Max" logo and our names on the screens. The route is 27 miles long and follows the River Lea passing through beautiful countryside before heading into vibrant North London with waterside pubs, cafés and eateries. We then head to the home of Spurs before arriving at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. A huge thank you to Alfie Brandt for the amazing logo he has created! I have also pledged to run the Great North run in September with Paul Greenhaf to add to the challenge, and we await to see if Paul Symes, Paul Greenhaf and myself can run for GOSH in the 2027 London Marathon. I then would like to continue to raise money every year for a cause that means a great deal to me in whatever way possible. Every child should have the right to a childhood. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tim and the Aldwickbury Team
