My name is Tim Stokes, and I’m proud to be the Chairman of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. This year, I’m taking part in the London Marathon to raise vital funds for a cause that means a great deal to me, both personally and professionally.

Why I’m doing this.

As Chairman, I see every day the extraordinary difference our Hospice makes to patients and families across North West Surrey. We provide compassionate, palliative and end-of-life care to people with life-limiting illnesses, completely free of charge to those who need us.

But hospice care is not free to deliver.

Every year, we rely heavily on the generosity of our community to fund our nurses, doctors, therapists, counsellors, and support teams who work tirelessly to ensure dignity, comfort, and kindness at the most difficult times in life.

Your donation will directly support:

• Palliative and end-of-life care

• Care delivered in people’s homes and within our in-patient unit

• Emotional and practical support for families and loved ones

• Comfort, dignity, and compassion when it matters most

Every pound raised helps ensure that our Hospice continues to provide vital care within our community.

Together, we can make every step count. A great example of this is the Hospice's Palliative Pacers, a group of nurses, members of staff and supporters who are walking/running the London Marathon course in reverse the evening before! We plan to meet on Blackheath and handover the baton of care for me to carry as I run the marathon.
