As many of you are aware, our dear friend Raquel Santos Peskosky was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in March of 2023. Despite her aggressive disease, she bravely persevered through treatment including chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy. Raquel was a deeply empathetic person, and a dedicated and remarkable physician assistant. When she was faced with the terrifying news of her diagnosis, she still stopped to consider how her participation in a clinical trial could positively impact the survival of others.

After an extremely brave battle, Raquel passed on in January 2025. We miss her with all our hearts, and this fundraiser is held not just in her memory but in honor of everyone who has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for triple negative breast cancer research.

Specifically, all proceeds will be donated to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation. Since 2006, the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation has raised over $15 million dollars. This charity helps fund research targeting new therapies for TNBC as well as provides support programs and guidance for newly diagnosed patients Your support and participation are valued and deeply appreciated by all of those affected by triple negative breast cancer. Please join us November 1st, 2026 anytime between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm to make donation and walk whatever distance you would like. Raquel’s favorite animal was the turtle. She admired them for their patience, wisdom, strength, and love of both land and water. In turn, we have these animals acting as mascots and a reminder always to persevere. I think that is what Raquel would want us all to remember.
