2026 PAWS Walk for Animals · 2 May 2026 ·

The Sauk County Humane Society is gearing up for our 27th Annual PAWS Walk for Animals, to be held on Saturday, May 2nd at the Maxwell Potter Conservancy/Liston Dog Park in Baraboo. We would love your help in making this year another success.

Story

If you know me, you already know this… animals have always been my thing. Not in a casual “oh I like dogs” kind of way, but in a deep, lifelong, probably slightly unhinged kind of way. I’ve always felt more connected to animals than people. I’m the person who cries when an animal dies in a movie (yes, even The Lion King still gets me), who Googles “does the dog die” before committing to a show, and who scans labels in the store to make sure nothing I buy was tested on animals. I’ve been known to gently (or not so gently) call out friends and family on that too.

I’m also the person who will slam on the brakes for a squirrel, stop traffic for geese crossing by the river, and go out of my way every single day to make sure animals are safe and loved. That’s why the shelter means so much to me. I see firsthand how many animals need help, and how much goes into giving them a second chance.

The PAWS Walk is a chance for me to turn all of that love (and let’s be honest, a little obsession) into something that truly makes a difference. Do I wish I could adopt all the animals? Yes, of course. But I know that isn't realistic. The next best thing I can do is raise money. If you’re able to donate, you’re helping animals get the care, comfort, and safety they deserve. And you're helping me feel like I am doing the best I can for the animals. If you can’t donate, sharing means just as much.
