Tokyo Marathon 2025 · 2 March 2025 ·

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

It's been 8 years since we ran our first marathon together at Brighton in April 2014. Since then we have run together in Dublin, Manchester, Suffolk, Norfolk, London and New York over distances of 5km to 26 miles.

In 2025 we have decided to go LARGE and head to Tokyo for one of the best marathons there is.

We have paid for our trips but wanted to raise money for 2 charities that are close to our hearts. All money goes directly to the charities. Any donations will really help to motivate us in our training during the hard winter months.

Beat is the UK's eating disorder charity. Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care.

These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Eating disorders cost the UK's economy £16.8 billion each year.

Challenging MND support people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and their friends and families. "Through unwaivering support and empowering experiences, we stand beside those facing MND, offering solace, understanding, and a sense of belonging."

We have seen first hand the incredibly positive impact these charities have on peoples' lives.
