Story
Tom Maley
29 June 1941 - 30 November 2025

Tom sadly passed away on 30 November 2025, with Seb and Caroline by his side.
Tom had 6 guide dogs over 50 years. He knew what a difference they made to his life, giving him the independence and life of freedom that he enjoyed. Dogs were a great joy to him. Since Zola, his last working dog, retired in April 2021 Caroline and Tom have continued to support Guide Dogs through speaking to groups; raising money when celebrating their big birthdays; and more recently by becoming a breeding dog holder for Guide Dogs. We hope that Winter will produce a good number of fantastic dogs for more visually impaired people in the future.
The work that this charity does is so worthwhile, and continued support will help others to benefit as Tom did for all of those years. We hope that you will support this wonderful charity.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.
Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
