n October 2027, Nicola and I will be joining team Overgate and setting off on an incredible journey trekking the Great Wall of China. From Taipingzhai to Huangyaguan, we’ll navigate historic sections of this iconic landmark, stretching over 13,000 miles, with breathtaking scenery and panoramic views at every turn.

We are taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice, in memory of our much-loved and dearly missed friend, Terrie.

Terrie passed away at Overgate in December 2019. The care she received there was truly wonderful, and meant so much to her and to all of us. The new In-Patient Unit will help make an already compassionate environment even more comfortable for patients and their families during such difficult times.

This trek will be tough. We will face steep climbs, rugged terrain, and the famous Heavenly Ladder – a near-vertical staircase that will push my stamina, resilience, and determination. But reaching the watchtowers and seeing the Wall wind endlessly over the mountains will make every step worthwhile.

This challenge isn’t just about the adventure. I’m taking it on to raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice, supporting local people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Every donation helps provide expert care, emotional support, and comfort to patients and loved ones during some of life’s most difficult moments.
