Story
In 2006, I was blessed with the chance to be a big sister to my younger brother, Hayden. When Hayden was born, there were a few concerns and he was later diagnosed with Lissencephaly Type 2 & Global Developmental Delay at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. Hayden was given a life expectancy of 4 years old.
Over the following years, Hayden spent time under the care of GOSH and thankfully, is still here with us today. At the age of 20, Hayden has completely defied all expectations and has proved so many people wrong. Despite this miracle, every day is still a struggle for Hayden. The seizures he experiences limit him both mentally and physically. Seeing Hayden have to face so many struggles and challenges involuntarily in his life is the reason for my challenge.
If Hayden can endure what he has been dealt over his 20 years, then I can endure the physical and mental demand of 25 marathon's. We share a love for Formula 1 ("Fast Cars", as Hayden would say) so doing these marathons at the tracks felt like, in a way, he'd be a part of it. Hayden isn't well enough to travel so having the opportunity to run marathons all over the world is a reminder that it is a privilege to be able to move and test my body in such a way.
