In February this year, I broke my ankle whilst running in Grizedale Forest, training for the English Fell Championships in my new race category as a vet 50. It wasn't a bad break, but it meant my running goals for 2025 had to be shelved. However, I was soon back training, in the gym and out fell walking with my border collie Rosie. Being out on the fells is my happy place so what better way to get me outside and strong again than a fell walking challenge. Hence, I cajoled a group of lovely ladies from my school to come along with me and team Bridekirk Beauties was born.
The 10 in 10 has been an event on my mind for many years living not far from Keswick and knowing the Booth family a little. I first really met Yvonne at West Cumberland Hospital where Tom and Jude were born on the same day but my husband John, already knew Yvonne through work. I have followed Duncan's story over the years on Facebook and seen him many a time helping out at Keswick Parkrun and what an inspiration he is!
I am now really looking forward to the companionship and comradery our team will build over the next few weeks in training and on the day itself. 10 hours of fun and laughter with no childcare involved!!!
If you can sponsor me, no matter how small, it will be much appreciated and go towards a really worthwhile cause. In 2025, the 10 in 10's fundraising money will go towards helping to fund world class research into Myelin repair at The Cambridge Centre.
