Story

# Aid for Ukraine: A Vehicle, Medical Supplies and Generators for PTAHA

Background

More than four years on from Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, millions of people continue to live with the consequences of war. Families have been displaced from their homes, communities have been devastated, and many remain dependent on humanitarian support.

To help those affected by this ongoing conflict, I am raising £8,000 to provide a vehicle, medical supplies, generators, and other essential support for PTAHA, a Ukrainian organisation helping people impacted by the war. Funds raised will also help support mental health services and community initiatives for those who have been displaced by the conflict.

Why This Cause Matters to Me

My name is Gregory Ebbs, and I am a resident and Shropshire Councillor. In 2022, I appeared on Season 17 of *The Apprentice*.

During my university years, I lived in Poland, close to the Ukrainian border, where I made many Ukrainian friends. Through those friendships, and through my passion for dancing, I have had the privilege of meeting Ukrainians both at home and abroad. I have never forgotten the warmth, generosity and kindness they showed me.

Like many people, I was horrified by the reports emerging from Bucha and other areas affected by the war. Yet despite the suffering they have endured, I have continually been inspired by the resilience, courage and determination of the Ukrainian people.

Since late 2024, I have been working with organisations involved in delivering aid to Ukraine. This fundraiser is my opportunity to make a direct contribution and help provide practical support where it is most needed.

Who Are PTAHA?

PTAHA (Ptaha Ukrainy) is a Ukrainian organisation based in Lviv that supports people affected by the war, particularly internally displaced people arriving from frontline and occupied regions.

Its volunteers provide humanitarian assistance, first aid, psychological first aid, and practical support to vulnerable people arriving in western Ukraine. Working closely with medical professionals, students, volunteers and local partners, PTAHA helps people who have been forced to flee their homes and rebuild their lives in safety.

In addition to humanitarian assistance, PTAHA provides mental health and psychosocial support to people coping with trauma, displacement, and the ongoing effects of war. The organisation also helps maintain community services that support vulnerable people and keep communities connected.

My Mission

My goal is to raise £8,000 to purchase a pickup truck or other vehicle identified by PTAHA as being most urgently needed.

Once purchased, I will personally drive the vehicle more than 2,000 miles from the United Kingdom to Lviv, Ukraine, where it will be handed over directly to PTAHA, along with any medical supplies, generators, and other aid purchased through this appeal.

By delivering the vehicle myself, I hope to ensure that supporters can see exactly where their donations are going and the difference they are making.

My Commitment

I believe fundraising should involve more than simply asking others to contribute.

To demonstrate my commitment, I am setting myself a challenge:

For every £50 donated, I will run 1 kilometre within 24 hours of receiving the donation.

I may not be as fit as I once was, and I cannot promise record-breaking times, but every kilometre completed will represent another step towards helping people affected by war.

I will be sharing updates throughout the campaign so supporters can follow both the fundraising progress and the miles completed.

Where Will the Money Go?

Funds raised will be used to provide:

• Vehicles for humanitarian operations

• Medical supplies and equipment

• Generators and power equipment

• Other essential items requested by PTAHA

Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help provide practical assistance to people whose lives have been turned upside down by war. Whether through essential equipment, mental health support, or community services, your contribution will help make a meaningful difference.

Follow the Journey

I will be sharing regular updates on the fundraising campaign, my running challenge, preparations for the journey, and the delivery of the vehicle to Ukraine.
