Story
2025 is going to be QUITE the year. On April 27th, I will be lacing up my trainers once again to run the London Marathon 2025 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, soon followed by an epic 4x4x48 challenge the following week (that's 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours), then my first ever 100km Ultramarathon with Race to the Stones on July 12th!
At the heart of this challenge is to carry on the legacy of an amazing little girl Orla Tuckwell, who tragically passed away in August 2023 aged just 2 years and 8 months old after a year long battle against a rare type of paediatric brain tumour called medulloblastoma.
Throughout 10 long months of treatment Orla endured multiple operations, high-dose chemotherapy, a fight and recovery from severe sepsis and so much more, and spent the majority of her time being cared for by the amazing nurses and doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital who saved her life on three separate occasions and gave her the best chance of overcoming her medulloblastoma diagnosis. For Orla's family, the care and support received from Great Ormand Street was nothing short of incredible. Heartbreakingly, Orla's brain tumour was too aggressive and rare to be cured, but campaigns such as the Build It Beat It campaign are funding a new Cancer Centre for children and their families, and giving amazing children like Orla world-class facilities and breakthrough therapies.
We are shooting for the moon to try and raise £350k to build a patient/family room in Great Ormond Street's new Children’s Cancer Centre in Orla's memory. At nearly a third of the way there already, contributions of any size will be hugely appreciated to help make Orla's family's goal a reality.
Thank you in advance for your support and donations!
